I started my yoga journey back when I was 25.
I'd injured my back pretty badly and yoga was the only physical activity I could really do at the time.
What kept me coming back was when I was signed off work with depression, stress and anxiety for months.
Yoga helped me slow down the negative thoughts I had whirling through my brain - and I felt an hour of rest and peace on my mat.
15 years of practice, and over 5 years of teaching, I'm still here sharing this vital piece of the puzzle and the power yoga can have in aiding recovery from physical and mental illness with people who need it.
My fave asana is cat/cow gotta love that spinal flexion!
Pebble & Ralph are my fave cuddle buddies!
My fave place to relax is The Japanese Gardens in Cowden
My qualifications
It's so important to ensure that your yoga teacher is qualified to the industry standard as a bare minimum (200 HR training with 2-3 years personal practice is the minimum industry standard) as you are putting your health, body and safety in their hands.
Yoga teaching isn't a formally governed profession, this means anyone can set up a yoga class and start teaching regardless of their training or experience. In many fitness settings a 20 HR CPD is all that is requested. There's a huge variation in the skill and training of teachers.
Please ask your teacher their qualifications & insurance information.

It can be pretty challenging to come to yoga for the first time; thinking you need to be super bendy, know another language and the worry that everyone else will be staring at you wondering "why the heck are they here?"
Well, yoga with me couldn't be more different.
Everybody is welcome into our little community of yogis. We have fun stretching out, as well as learning about our bodies. There are always plenty of laughs due to my truly awful attempts at banter and quite random visualisations!
